Israeli E2 Visa
With years of experience in working with Israeli companies and investor visas, Whiteman Osterman and Hanna is ready to provide visa and corporate services to Israeli investors when the E2 visa category becomes available. Attorneys Seth R. Leech, co-managing partner of the immigration group, and Brian M. Wang, Of Counsel, will be managing the law firm's effort in assisting Israelis with E2 and other visa issues.
The E2 visa requires that investors make a substantial investment in the United States that will over time create employment for US workers. Investment can be in a brand-new business, a transnational business such as the opening up of a branch of the United States or in purchasing a business already in existence in the US. In order to qualify, Israeli nationals must own at least 50% of the business. This means that the Israeli investor may have minority partners who are American citizens or citizens of other countries. The Israeli investor will need to prove that the investment funds are indeed their own and come from legal sources.
Whereas many countries already have the ability to get E2 visas, Israel had been absent from the list of qualifying nations until 2012. America's 2012 legislation putting Israel on the list made the final implementation of the E2 contingent upon Israel's approval of a similar visa for American investors in that country. This finally occurred in June 2018. Since then, the US government has been working on the implementation of the E2 visa. The current administration has predicted the availability of this visa to Israelis at the end of 2018 or beginning of 2019.
